Goblin Sword -An Awesome Retro Style iOS Game

Goblin Sword released on 11th Sept 2014 by Galato Games, it is a retro-action-platform game, which features 48 levels in 3 different world, 6 bosses, 20 weapons with unique attack, and many more. The game currently is half price for a limited-time, $0.99 at the time writing this blog.

Goblin Sword gameplay is pretty simple, you started with a character and a world map showing different world once click start game. At the beginning only Great Forest is unlocked, while the other 2 world which is Ancient Castle and Dark Caves both will unlock after completed certain level.

Great Forest Secret Level Unlocked (level 16)

Collect all treasure boxes and crystal

Just tap on Great Forest and there are 18 levels together with some bosses, which displayed as 'skull' in the game. As you can see there are two mini slot for each level, one of them is treasure and another is crystal. 2 mini icons will displayed on that level only when you successful found 2 treasure boxes and 3 crystals. If you only found 3 crystal and 1 treasure then you will only see Crown icon, which represent 3 crystals. Having both icons displayed in each level in Goblin Sword would be a challenge for players like me and you. The reason is because these all treasure boxes are usually in hidden wall, or you are able to see the treasure box just above the platform, but you unable to reach it. Once you successful unlock all crown in every level in Great Forest, a secret level is unlocked, which is last level in Great Forest.

The control is pretty easy, just left right and 'A' and 'B'. There is a control configuration in Option, but then not much you can do. Just relocate your move button as well as move 'A' and 'B' buttons  to suit your play style. The learning curve of this game is pretty low, I'm sure you will get used to it in very short of time.

Another challenge in Goblin Sword would be beating bosses. First few bosses are easy to kill, just have to make sure avoid their attack and they have low HP in the beginning. Some bosses' attack area effect is huge and hard to avoid. For example, they will fire a lot of fire balls towards you and most of time you are unable to avoid if you don't jump over the boss in time. I love bringing Dragon Pendant to kill boss, as the Dragon Pendant will summon a dragon guardian to shoot magic attack to monster. For this case, which is a bonus to kill boss.

The monsters in the beginning level is easy to kill and they are not aggressive, they will just stand there and let you whack them. But, monsters are getting aggressive in later level, you will start seeing flying skull, flying ghost, purple ogre, and some magic attack monster.

There is no IAP in version 1, all weapons, armours, and relics are purchase-able using in game coins. You might needs to replay some level just to buy powerful weapons, armours, or relics. No heavy grinding required. 

Game Statistics

Overall, Goblin Sword is a really fun and awesome game to play. For $0.99 definitely worth the money to try it!
